This is my first step into world building. Drawing from my knowledge of material culture, I created an object that would be useful to a fictional culture as a water fetching vessel. Focusing on functionality, the work is minimally decorated.
This work is another step into exploring world building. Once again, drawing from my understanding of material culture, I created a complex, challenging-to-use vessel. The decorative nature of it and its lack of function signal ritual-use as does its surface treatment. Overall, the project represents my first attempts to blur the line between reality and fiction by drawing from the real world (amphora, jugs, the need for water and storage) but creating imagery or altering forms that ask who made the objects and why.
