This piece was created for a class where the prompt was create wares for particular foods. I, instead, chose to think of wares for a particular celebration. These wares are both meant to be used by separate families for the same celebration: one uses more explicit narrative as I explore my interest in majolica, while the other uses more sculptural forms and relief to communicate a similar narrative. The work was also meant to push my technical boundaries, as these are the largest bowls I’ve thrown, altered, and trimmed.
